Ayurvedic Remedy for Cold
Kadha: Indian home remedy for cold
You can make a kadha by adding Tulsi leaves to boiling water and adding one tablespoon or small piece of grated ginger along with 5-6 peppercorns. Once the mixture is reduced by half, add a pinch of black salt and squeeze half lemon into it. Let the mixture stand for a minute then strain it using a tea strainer. Drink this kadha once every day for faster results.
Tulsi (Basil) leaves for cold
You can simply chew 4-5 Tulsi leaves on empty stomach when you wake up in the morning or make Tulsi tea by adding these fresh leaves to hot water. Let it simmer for few minutes and strain the mixture. You can add honey or lemon to it for better taste and drink it once or twice a day. Tulsi is cherished in Ayurveda for its ability to produce antibodies and fight against cold.
Pippali Churna
As per Ayurveda, Pippali is very effective if you have cold since it has expectorant properties that loosens the mucus and allows you to breathe freely. It also relieves any headache and congestion related to cold. Simply take a pinch of Pippali Churna and mix it with 1 teaspoon of honey. Take this mixture once or twice a day and you’ll see noticeable results within a few days.
Turmeric Milk: Traditional way of treating cold
Turmeric Milk is also known as ‘Golden Milk’ in Ayurveda because of its exceptional anti-bacterial and antiviral properties. It helps fight any infections and gets rid of phlegm from your body. Add one teaspoon of Turmeric powder in warm milk and drink it once a day. You can also add a pinch of black pepper powder to enhance its qualities. If you need a sweetener, you can use palm sugar as it also helps relieve sore throat.

Carrom Seeds
Take 2 teaspoon of carom seeds and boil it in water along with ¼ cup of jaggery. Let it simmer on low flame for few minutes and sip hot. This will cleanse the mucus present in your body and provide relief from Cold. This is also beneficial for bronchitis and asthma.

Ayurvedic remedy for cold in infants
Golden Milk for Boosting Immunity
Boil a glass of milk with one glass of until it is reduced by half. Then add half teaspoon turmeric powder, 2 grams ginger powder and a pinch of cinnamon & black pepper powder. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes and give it to your infants once a day. This will alleviate the symptoms of cold while boosting their immunity.
Steam Inhalation
You’ll notice significant relief in infants having cold once you give them steam twice a day. Add these herbs (Pinch of Turmeric, Basil or eucalyptus leaves, a teaspoon of Himalayan Salt, and a handful of mint leaves) to boiling water to enhance its effectiveness.
